Despite wanting to see this movie since first hearing about it, i've been procrastinating for years. Guess i could tell it was gonna be hard to watch. The title isn't messing around - there's definitely a lot coming at you. But although it gets progressively more intense and exhausting, i didn't want to take a break at any point in the last 90 minutes, except maybe briefly when it reset with a long way to go. Surprisingly, it was the first 20 minutes that were the hardest to follow and enjoy. In fact when the kung fu started, i was skeptical that it was a flashy gimmick to hide a boring story. Thankfully, both the story and the kung fu fully deliver. At a few points, the film fu gets so delightfully creative that it made me wonder how much of the story was built around those ideas in a sketchbook. Hard to find a complaint with a film that does so much so well. Definitely worth a watch, whenever you can work up the commitment.
